4-ANT 4-EVER..
The 4-ANT way of life is spreading quickly around Florida, Colorado, Canada and the whole world. Its amazing how it only takes one person to make a change and impact the lives of so many. Anthony Negrin (ANT) grew up the in south FL environment living in Puerto Rico, Miami, and Bradenton.
THE 4-ANT FAM
ANT was the second oldest of four brothers and boy do these guys have energy/heart. He comes from a very close family that is also very competitive in sports. All four brothers have always been big into basketball just like their father Sergio, who also is a baller. When you walk into their house your wrestling skills are also quickly put to test. Pretty much anything can become a competition and everyones always striving to be the best. ANT being the second oldest looked up a lot to his older Brother, Sergio Jr and no matter how much radiation/chemo/transplants he went thru, he still would show up for all of his younger twin brothers Jonathan and Jordan's basketball games being the loudest one in the stadium as we would chill in our V.I.P. section that was isolated/germ-xed downed. He was supposed to be in inside a house/hospital in isolation but nothing could stop this ANT from doing what he wanted. ANTs mom Roxanne is the best cook in the world (ask anyone who has tasted her food) and never left him alone for a second throughout his entire transplant process.
DIAGNOSIS
When he was born, ANT had 3 thumbs but they just cut one off not thinking much of it at the time. Then at age 15 he was getting into tennis and would play frequently but eventually he started getting really tired quickly. Then one day while eating at South Philly in Bradenton, as he described it to me an Angel came up to him and told him his skin color looked funny that he needs to see a doctor quick. ANT took these words seriously and went home and told his parents. They took him to the doctor and the doc was astounded. He had no clue how ANT was even standing with up levels so low. They told him to go home and lock himself in his room for a week while they were trying to figure out what to do. The doctors diagnosed him with Fanconi Anemia (FA) a rare blood disease that causes bone marrow failure usually at age 12. To get this disease both parents have to be carriers of a genetic deficiency and then after that the chance of your kids getting it is very low.
PRE-TRANSPLANT
Doctors decided the best treatment would be to do a bone marrow transplant and in order to do that they would need donors. They did blood drives to do tests and the doctors estimated that about 20/30 people would show up. They're turn out was in the hundreds almost reaching the thousands.
MIRACLE
They tried to find a 10/10 match checking through many people including the whole family. One of the twins Jonathan came up perfect 10/10 match but when they tested him they realized he also had Fanconi but where ANT had 87% Jon only has 46% so he is uneffected by it and is considered a Miracle you can read it tattooed across his chest.
TRANSPLANTS
In 2006 the doctors came to the conclusion that they needed to do bone marrow transplants. ANT went to the doctor who wrote the protocol on how to cure FA located in Cincinnati, OH. The first transplant went successful even with a usual 1/5 success rate. 6 months after his transplant his body started to developed leukemia again. After the first transplant they tried another one which had the same results and then he went through a third one making that two in one year. ANT is the only person know to survive two in one year and was such a fighter through out it all. He was never negative towards anything I would talk to him before he left for Cinci and he would calmly tell me yea I'm gettin a transplant ill be back in a few months like it was no big deal. ANT feared nothing in this world he always told me god will never give you anything you can't handle.
OCT 6, 2009
In early October 2009 ANT had been walking with a cane for a few months and had already got a lady fired for coming to his house and trying to "put him to sleep" because they didn't think he would make it through the weekend only for him to live 3 more months, ANT passed away. Right before he died he told his lil bro Jon that he was his Angel to be looking out for him.
CELEBRATION
There wasn't a funeral for ANT, but a celebration. For a dude that was happy that much and loved life all the time there had to be something positive to come out of this. There was over 1000 people from the small town of Bradenton and from all over the world who attended. ANT had a huge impact of the lives of many people.
THE LEGEND LIVES
ANT will forever be a legend, he inspired the lives of so many. This is where the band gets there name. Many people before have made lots of stuff 4-ANT a whole basketball season was dedicated to him. 4-ANT is much more than a band its a life style. MORE COMING SOON.
